Obituary, Buffalo News, Friday 1 June 2001:
A Mass of Christian Burial for Anne Jordan Bisantz, 92, will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 320 Porter Ave. Burial will be in United German & French Cemetery, Cheektowaga. She died Tuesday (May 29, 2001) in Episcopal Church Home after a brief illness.
Born in Buffalo in 1909, she graduated from South Park High School and earned her bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, from D'Youville College in 1930. Initially a French and Latin teacher, Mrs. Bisantz also worked as a school clerk, a county social worker and an attendance teacher for the Buffalo Public Schools, from which she retired in 1971.
She was a member of the Helping Hands of the Marine Drive Apartments, the New York State Retired Teachers Association, South Park High School Alumni and D'Youville College Alumni Association, where she was a charter member of the Delta Sigma Honor Society. Mrs. Bisantz was a founding member and first president of the Mothers Club at Bishop Fallon High School. In her retirement, she remained active in the schools by participating in the Senior Volunteers Program at Waterfront School. A gardener at her summer Census in Crescent Park, Ont., she was a member of the Crescent Park Property Owners Association.
She and her husband, the late Eugene A., were married for 59 years.
Survivors include two sons, Lt. Col. Anthony E. of Rodanthe, N.C., and John W. of Kenmore; three daughters, Sister Martha A. of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, Mary E. of Alexandria, Va., and Jean Patricia Caldiero of Buffalo; two sisters, Mary Ryan of Wyckoff, N.J., and Joan Schwenk of Lake Worth, Fla.; a brother, Harry E. Jordan of Snyder; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. |
