- in 1860 he was living in a large boarding house called the "Mansion House" in the 1st Ward. Several families are living there. There is another Collins living there—Andrew, aged 29, a conductor born in New York—but I doubt the two are related; they are a page apart, and Andrew was born earlier in the U.S.
He became a captain of police in Buffalo.
