  Notes	Their son Lawrence's 1848 birth record puts the family in Gortnahoe, in Co. Tipperary, Ireland, before their migration. According to the 1860 census, their son Lawrence, aged 12, was born in Ireland, but their daughter Catherine, age 8, was born in New York; this gives a window between 1848 and 1852 when they must have emigrated. This makes it likely that this family left Ireland to avoid the potato famine, which struck in the late 1840s. He was a Capt. in the NY 77th Regiment during the Civil War. His spouse Honora filed a pension claim on 10 Oct. 1864. No Philip McCormick appears in unit rosters, however, and the only McCormick in the Regiment survived the war.
